Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 12, 2025

This Privacy Policy ("Policy") explains how LittleHippo Inc ("Dango Chat," "Company," "we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards information when you use the Dango Chat mobile apps, web apps, websites, and related services (collectively, the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

Data Controller. For purposes of applicable law, LittleHippo Inc is the entity responsible for processing your personal information.

1) Scope & Changes

This Policy applies to the Services that link to it. We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you as required (e.g., in-app notice, email, or prominent posting). The "Effective Date" shows when this Policy last changed.

2) Information We Collect

We collect information you provide, information collected automatically, and information from other sources. Some information is required to provide the Services; if you do not provide it—or request deletion—certain features may stop working.

A. Information you provide

  • Account & Profile: name, display name, username, email address, [phone number], password or SSO (e.g., Apple/Google/Discord).
  • Demographics: age confirmation 18+.
  • Payments & Transactions: purchase history, subscription status. (Payments are processed by our payment processors; we do not store full card numbers.)
  • User Content: chat messages, prompts, images, audio/voice messages, character profiles, memories, and any other content you upload or generate.
  • Communications: customer support requests, feedback, survey responses.

Sensitive information. You may choose to include sensitive data in chats or uploads (e.g., health, sexual orientation, religious beliefs). We do not require this to use the Services. Please avoid sharing sensitive information you are not comfortable disclosing.

B. Information collected automatically

  • Device/Network Data: IP address, device IDs (e.g., IDFA/GAID), device type, OS/browser type and version, language, mobile carrier, app version, crash logs, diagnostics.
  • Usage Data: pages/screens viewed, taps/clicks, session IDs, User/Chat IDs, timestamps, referring/exit pages, and in-app actions.
  • Approximate Location: derived from your IP address or device settings.
  • Cookies/SDKs/Pixels: used to operate the Services, keep you logged in, remember preferences, perform analytics, and measure marketing. See Cookies & Online Tracking.

C. Information from other sources

  • SSO/Social Login: limited profile data (e.g., email, platform user ID) per your permissions. You can disconnect at any time via that platform and/or our settings.
  • Marketing & Ad Platforms: when you interact with our ads (e.g., on YouTube/TikTok/Reddit), we may receive campaign performance data, device info, general location, and demographics where permitted.
  • Referrals & Public Sources; Vendors/Partners: metrics, fraud signals, and analytics to operate and secure the Services.

Social Login via Discord (OAuth)

What we receive. If you choose "Sign in with Discord," we receive from Discord the data tied to the scopes you consent to (for example: Discord user ID, username, avatar, and—if you grant it—email address).

How we use it. We use this data to authenticate you, create and maintain your Dango Chat account, prevent abuse and fraud, and comply with law. We do not read your Discord messages.

Data minimization & retention. We collect only what is necessary for login and keep it only as long as needed for these purposes or as required by law, after which we delete or de-identify it.

Sharing. We may share this data with service providers (e.g., hosting, security, analytics, support) under contracts requiring confidentiality and security; we do not sell personal data.

Your choices. You can disconnect Discord in your Dango Chat account settings and you may request deletion of Discord-derived data by emailing support@dangochat.com.

Security. We protect OAuth tokens and related data with appropriate technical and organizational measures. If we discover a security incident that may affect you, we will notify you and, where required, Discord.

Links. Our use of Discord's APIs is subject to Discord's Developer Terms and Developer Policy.

3) How We Use Information

We DO NOT train on your chats or cards

We DO NOT use the content of your chats, prompts, images, audio, video, or attachments to train, fine-tune, or improve our machine-learning models or any third-party models. We also DO NOT use chat content for advertising. We may use aggregated or de-identified operational metrics (not chat content) to understand feature performance and reliability. We may create aggregated/de-identified data for any lawful purpose and will not attempt to re-identify it except to test our de-identification processes.

Promotion & public content. We DO NOT use private or non-public chats in ads or marketing without your explicit consent. If you set Characters/Generations to public, we may showcase those public items in discovery or promotional surfaces consistent with your settings.

We use information to:

  • Provide and operate the Services; personalize your experience; sync history across devices; process transactions; and provide support.
  • Maintain safety & integrity: detect and prevent fraud, abuse, spam, and security incidents; enforce our Terms and policies.
  • Improve the Services: monitor performance, debug, run analytics and A/B tests, and develop new features.
  • Communicate with you: service announcements, feature updates, security and policy notices; [marketing emails where permitted—unsubscribe anytime].
  • Advertising & Growth: measure and improve our marketing; [show you our ads for the Services on other sites/apps] (see Cookies & Online Tracking).
  • Legal & Compliance: comply with laws, respond to legal requests, and protect our rights, users, and the public.
  • Feature & promote public content: if you make Characters or related Generations public, we may repost and feature them on or off the Services (e.g., on social media, forums, video platforms, app stores) to promote the Services. Where practicable, we will credit your display name or handle and may include a link back to your public page. We do not use private or non-public chats for promotion without your explicit consent.

4) When We Disclose Information

  • Service Providers & Vendors: hosting, storage, cloud compute, content delivery, analytics, security/fraud prevention, customer support, email/SMS delivery, payments, and [content moderation]. They process data under contracts that limit their use to our instructions.
  • Affiliates: to help operate and improve the Services consistent with this Policy.
  • Advertising & Analytics Partners: to measure campaigns, understand audience interest, and [deliver or measure ads for our Services]. See Cookies & Online Tracking and Your Privacy Choices.
  • Public or Shared Content: If you make characters, voices, profiles, posts, or chats public or share in group chats, that content may be visible to others. We may repost and feature public content off-platform (e.g., social media, forums, video platforms, app stores) to promote the Services. When we do so, we may disclose your public attribution (e.g., display name/handle and a link to your public page) consistent with your profile visibility settings. We do not disclose your email address or other non-public contact details for attribution.
  • Safety, Legal, and Rights: to comply with law or legal process; protect users, the public, or our rights; detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues.
  • Business Transfers: as part of (or during due diligence for) a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets.
  • With Your Direction/Consent: e.g., when you connect a third-party app, participate in a referral, or request that we share data.

5) Your Privacy Choices

  • Account & Profile: access, update, or delete certain profile fields in Settings. You can delete your account at any time (see Data Retention & Deletion).
  • Marketing Emails: unsubscribe via the link in the email or in Settings.
  • Cookies & Tracking: manage browser/app settings and platform tools; see Cookies & Online Tracking below. Some features may not function without certain cookies.
  • Disconnect social logins: you can disconnect Discord (and other SSO providers) in Settings and request deletion of related identifiers via support@dangochat.com.
  • Off-platform featuring: control whether your public content may be featured on external channels. Use the Settings toggle or email support@dangochat.com to opt out. Opting out does not require us to remove past posts already published on third-party platforms, but we will not feature your public content in future once your opt-out is processed.

6) Cookies & Online Tracking

We and authorized third parties use cookies, SDKs, pixels, and similar technologies to:

  • operate core features and keep you logged in,
  • remember preferences and personalize content,
  • analyze traffic and performance, and
  • [support attribution and advertising for our Services].

Analytics. We use analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics/Firebase) to understand usage and improve features.

Global Privacy Control (GPC). Where required by U.S. state law, we honor browser- or device-level GPC signals as an opt-out of "sale/sharing" (see California & U.S. State Privacy Rights).

Do Not Track. Industry standards for DNT are not uniform; we currently do not respond to DNT signals.

7) Data Retention & Deletion

We retain information as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, to operate the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

  • Account Deletion: you may contact us to delete your account at any time via support@dangochat.com. Account deletion will also be added to the app very soon. Deletion is permanent and results in loss of access and removal of associated personal data, subject to limited retention required for legal/compliance, security, and fraud prevention.
  • Public/Popular Content: If you set a character/voice/content to public and it becomes widely used, we may preserve its characteristics to avoid disrupting other users' experience—even if you delete your account. Do not include personal data in public content you plan to share broadly.
  • Featured posts on third-party platforms: Featured posts may persist according to those platforms' policies. We will remove content we control, and we will reasonably request removal from channels we manage; however, you may need to contact the third-party platform directly to complete removal.

8) Security

We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and monitoring. No system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9) International Transfers

We are based in the United States (California). Your information may be processed in the U.S. and other countries that may have data-protection laws different from yours. We apply appropriate safeguards consistent with this Policy.

10) Age Requirement

The Services are intended only for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18. If you believe an individual under 18 has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

11) California & U.S. State Privacy Rights
